According to the Ottumwa Police Department, the collision occurred around 9:15 p.m. when two vehicles entered the intersection from different directions. Investigators reported that Ashlin Knuth was traveling west on Roemer Avenue when a pickup truck, driven by a 21-year-old Ottumwa resident, was traveling north on Highway 34. For reasons still under investigation, the pickup truck struck her vehicle on the driver’s side, resulting in a severe impact.
